1.Distance Education program for Family medicine :
Now one can do a two year distance education course and get certified as FAMILY PHYSICIAN from CMC(christian medical college) , vellore . The degree is awarded as PGDFM ( Post graduate diploma in family medicine ) . Even the government doctors are asked to attend this course officially by the health ministry of tamil nadu . So recognition by MCI is not a problem . Moreover MCI does not exist anymore :)
Why do this course rather than be a MBBS doctor and manage patients : This course gives you a detailed management of day to day clinical scenarios , with clear guidelines and protocols . Notes are very user friendly and well written . I heard even Head of the department of surgical ICU from a well reputed institute in India is doing this course .
Eligibility : M.B.B.S from MCI recognised Indian university
Age : No limit
Course fee : can be paid in three installments
1 st installment : 12,000 rupees
2 nd installment : 11,000 rupees ( 6 months later )
3 rd installment : 11,000 rupees ( 6 months later )
Duration : 2 years
Contact program : One needs to attend 30 contact classes in their nearby city in the whole two year period .
Materials : 12 booklets will be given , each booklet will have approximately 6-8 different clinical scenarios discussed . One has to submit the assignment based on each booklet for each month .
For appearing in the first year examination, candidate should have submitted assignment from 1 to 6 and for second year examination from 7 to 12 before the examination.
Exams : One exam during first year , second exam at the end of the course , both theory and practicals .
